Wales is where the adventure starts in 2016

The World Explorers Bureau will host the next World Explorers Summit in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales (UK) next September from the 3-4th, 2016.


The World Explorers Summit is an annual multi-day event coordinated by the World Explorers Bureau, dedicated to the world of exploration and adventure. It has been staged in Ireland for the past two years and to celebrate the "Year of Adventure" in Wales, the organisers have decided to bring the Summit to Cardiff for 2016.

We have begun to secure the participation of the leading lights, visionaries and heroes in the world of exploration, adventure, mountains, oceans, conservation, polar, science and space etc., for an all-star line-up of speakers throughout a weekend packed with talks, on stage events, workshops and adventure activities.

The Audience for the weekend will range from special interest groups, the outdoors enthusiasts, adventure community and of course the general public.

There are five key elements of the World Explorers Summit weekend: the Summit Stage events, a charity Gala, an Adventure Film Festival, an Adventure Gear Show and organised Adventure Activities.


The Summit Stage

The Summit Stage will feature world-class speakers from 12 disciplines which share the common theme of adventure and exploration. Each Summit Stage or Panel will have four topics to be discussed by invited speakers in a variety of formats, including short presentations (15 minutes), Q&As, interviews and talk-show style sessions throughout the packed weekend.

Summit Film Festival

For over a century film has wowed and inspired audiences the world over, none more so than authentic adventure films, which showcase journeys, cultures, people and events in a way that provides a window for us to appreciate and experience that which we might never encounter.

The World Explorers Film Festival and awards is dedicated to showcasing the present-day film makers, with numerous screenings, interviews and presentations by film makers scheduled throughout the weekend.


Summit Adventure Travel Writing

Adventure Travel Writing is a vibrant and versatile art-form in itself, it has brought the world outside our knowledge into our lives and continues to inspire and broaden our horizons.

We will hear from writers about their books, their lives and host several adventure travel book launches as well as an Adventure Travel Writing Workshop.

Summit Gala

The Social highlight of the weekend will focus on the hosting of the World Explorers Gala Dinner & Awards, which takes place on Saturday night (3rd September).

The theme of the Gala Dinner and Awards night will be "Beyond Endurance: The Explorers Mindset" inspired by the epic rescue, led by Sir Ernest Shackleton, of his crew of the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition on the very day of the 100th Anniversary of the arrival of the crew back to Punta Arenas.

The Awards will honour several individuals and organisations that continue to pursue the un-explored in the face of adversity and challenges. The evening begins with a drinks reception and photo call followed by speeches, awards presentation and dinner.
