Jeff Blumenfeld

Jeff Blumenfeld, adventure marketing specialist, understands that modern-day exploration ultimately involves making it relevant to mass audiences. Based in Bolder, Colorado, he is president of the adventure marketing agency Blumenfeld and Assoc., and is editor and publisher of Expedition News which he founded in 1994 to cover news about exploration.

Clients have included Coleman, Duofold, Du Pont, Eddie Bauer, Lands’ End, LEKI USA, Lewmar, Mares, Orvis, Timberland, Timex, W.L. Gore & Associates, and Wacoal Sports Science Corp. As an authority on the subject, he has been quoted in the New York Times, Outside Magazine, and numerous other media.

In 2009 he released his first book, You Want to Go Where?: How to Get Someone to Pay for the Trip of Your Dreams (Skyhorse), a guide to expedition and adventure sponsorship. A renamed, rebranded and updated edition was published in January 2014 under the title, "Get Sponsored. A funding guide for explorers, adventurers and would-be world travellers".

An avid sea kayaker, fly-fishing angler, downhill skier and sailor, he’s also fluent in Morse code, although he’ll be first to admit it doesn’t come up too often in conversation.
