Matt Traver

matt-traver-profile

Matt Traver is a British-American climber and adventurer, originally from Hong Kong. He has organised and lead expeditions to remote and little-explored areas including the Dragon's Horns West Face in Tioman Island, Malaysia where he climbed a 1300ft new route on the imposing jungle spire. Ultimately he is most inspired by seeking out the little-known, under-explored and forgotten corners of the world.

In 2012 and with a team of four he ventured to a remote region within the Arctic Circle of East Greenland to attempt first ascents in a previously unvisited area. In the same year he also completed a two week horse riding journey through western Mongolia documenting the lives of the Kazakh nomads and ancient practice of eagle hunting. This journey served as preparation for One Steppe Ahead; a 15,000km journey retracing an historic journey first under taken by Sir Charles Howard Bury in 1913 where the team rode for 63 days and 1700km across eastern Kazakhstan on horseback. The team of Matt Traver and fellow World Explorer, Jamie Maddison returned from this successful expedition at the end of October 2013.

Ants is a record-breaking adventurer, travel writer and tv producer, with a penchant for very long journeys in rather unsuitable vehicles.

In 2006 she drove a pink tuk tuk 12,500-mile from Bangkok to Brighton with her best friend Jo. They raised £50,000 for Mind, set the world record for the longest journey ever by an auto rickshaw, wrote a best-selling travel book "Tuk Tuk to the Road" and won Cosmopolitan Magazine's "Fun, fearless female award" from 16,000 entries.

Most recently she ventured on a 2-month motorcycle ride down what remains of the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. A book about this "Short Ride in the Jungle" has just been published. In between travelling and writing she produces TV programmes for the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV
