Ryan Waters
Ryan Waters is a professional mountaineer, guide and polar adventurer. He is the first American to complete the Adventurers Grand Slam by climbing the highest mountain on each continent - the Seven Summits - plus skiing unsupported full ski expeditions to the North and South Poles. Ryan is the also the First American to ski unsupported to both the North and South Poles and via unconventionally difficult means.
In 2010, along with his expedition partner he became the first person ever to ski unsupported and unassisted across Antarctica during a 70 day, 1,117 mile/1,800 kilometer crossing of the continent via the South Pole and on May 6th, 2014 he completed what has been described as "one of the most difficult expeditions in the world", a 53-day full unsupported ski expedition from Cape Discovery Canada over 500 miles of shifting ice, open water leads, and polar bears to the North Pole that has become a documentary on Animal Planet television network.
He is the veteran leader of 14 expeditions to 8,000 meter peaks in the Himalayas, including three trips to Everest, summitting from both the Nepal and Tibet sides. His captivating photography has been featured in numerous books, magazines, and catalogues. Ryan continues to work on writing and has contributed to two books, Trek and Mountain Magazine, and several online media outlets.
Ryan Waters holds audiences spellbound presenting his exploits around the world. In addition to being the first American to complete the Adventurer's Grand Slam (climbing all seven summits and reaching both the north and south poles on foot), Ryan has been a successful environmental consultant in a global engineering consulting company. With his self depreciating humor, he motivates and inspires while stressing the importance of teamwork and keeping a positive attitude no matter the situation. I have hired Ryan to speak at two events and will gladly do so again when the opportunity arises.
